Deer Park Office Building

When the new owner referred the challenge to Conlon Engineering, Conlon developed a design that made the site buildable and commercially viable where others had failed. The result is a 7,000 sf building that cost $1.3M. It is supported on caisson foundations seated into bedrock. The partial basement, which is submerged in water below the groundwater table, had to resist floatation. Conlon Engineering designed a hydrostatic slab by combining the weight of the slab and tension resistance of the caisson foundation to offset uplift from buoyancy.
