With the brunt of the 31,000-mile U.S. coastline devastated by Hurricane Sandy centered in New York and New Jersey, recovering the Beach Point Club in Mamaroneck, NY was a unique challenge. Hurricane Sandy devastated the club’s grounds. One building was completely destroyed, but the two buildings that Patrick Conlon had designed a few years earlier survived unscathed.
With imposed time constraints, the outdoor Dining Pavilion, which was destroyed during the hurricane, was replaced with a new building with carefully specified roof level ballast to withstand future flooding and hurricanes.
