Corporate Aviation Facility

Westchester County

Commercial

Renovation of 59,000 square foot private airplane hangar with passenger lounge and airplane service facility.  The project achieved LEED Platinum status and included the first wind turbines in Westchester County among other green initiatives.

The project renovated the existing hangar to provide an upgraded facility with private lounge for its new corporate tenant.  The complex structure required a detailed review and strengthening design to upgrade it for the improvements and code compliance.  A complete structural review of the hangar was made and new bracing components were provided.  The passenger lounge addition was complicated by underlying poor soils.  The challenge was met with a deep foundation supporting a structural mat slab at grade and conventional light-framing above it.
