Clubhouse Replacement and Expansion
Conlon Engineering provided structural engineering design for the complete replacement and expansion of the main clubhouse at the Country Club of New Canaan. The new two-story facility includes banquet rooms, dining areas, locker rooms, offices, and support spaces, all integrated into a modernized layout. Conlon’s scope involved designing the foundation and framing systems to accommodate open interior spaces, grand staircases, and large window openings that connect the building to its scenic golf course surroundings. Structural systems were closely coordinated with the architectural detailing to preserve the club’s classic aesthetic. The project required a phased approach to allow continued use of adjacent club facilities during construction.
The building’s framing included a combination of steel and engineered wood members to support long spans and accommodate high-end finishes. Conlon worked closely with the full design and construction team to ensure constructability and maintain the club’s operational timeline. The finished clubhouse offers a refined and welcoming environment that enhances the club’s historic charm while supporting its evolving membership needs.
