Pool Complex Renovation and Addition
Conlon Engineering provided structural engineering services for the renovation and expansion of the pool complex at Greenwich Country Club. The project included a new pool house, updated locker facilities, dining areas, and extensive site improvements surrounding the pool deck. The new structures were designed to blend seamlessly with the existing clubhouse architecture while introducing modern amenities and improved circulation. Conlon worked closely with the architect and contractor to coordinate foundations, framing, and lateral systems that supported open-air and partially enclosed spaces. Structural detailing was tailored to accommodate high-end finishes and exterior materials suited to the club’s historic aesthetic.
The project presented a number of technical challenges, including retaining walls, varied rooflines, and open spans for gathering and dining areas. Steel framing was used strategically to support cantilevers and large window openings, while wood framing allowed for compatibility with traditional exterior detailing. Foundation design had to account for varied soil conditions and tight site constraints adjacent to active club facilities. Conlon’s engineering solutions helped deliver a durable, code-compliant structure that enhances the club’s member experience. The final result is a refreshed and elegant pool complex that complements the club’s legacy and meets the expectations of a modern country club environment.
